Watching butterflies roam overhead
I sometimes wish to join them instead
Of being down here on this earth
If I could fulfill my wildest dreams
I'd sprout wings and fly, jumping off of beams
Mountains would be specks from my birds-eye view
I'd still be human, but the only one that flew
People would point and plenty would stare
But I would just wave, too happy to care
I wouldn't be stuck on this earthly plane
With nothing to do but go insane
I'd sit with the birds up high in the trees
The wind blowing softly, like a gentle breeze
I'd sit with the sparrows; the talkative lot
Fly from here to the sun, though it's awfully hot
I could walk at night upon the moon
Even though I know I'd have to come down soon
The sky would be my limit and I'd never cry
Life would be so easy, I'd never have to try
I just know that would be the life for me
I've thought it out since I was three
The sky and me would be a great team
But until that happens, I'll just stay here and dream
I wrote this piece last night before bed while talking with my brother. It was inspired by a routine that one of my favorite dancers, Ian Eastwood, choreographed to the song "Fireflies" by Owl City. I looove that song!
